Child Safety at Tribe Early Learning

Creating Safe and Supportive Learning Environments

At Tribe Early Learning, nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of every child in our care. As a family-owned Perth childcare provider, we take safety personally. Families trust us with their children, and that trust is never taken lightly.

While every early learning centre must meet the Child Safe Standards, at Tribe, we go further. From banning personal devices in learning spaces to ensuring educators are never left alone with children, we’ve invested in practices that give families peace of mind.

Every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported and at Tribe, that’s our promise.

How We Keep Children Safe Every Day

No personal devices

Smartphones and smartwatches are not permitted in child environments. All family communication is managed securely through the Storypark app.

External Cameras & Secure Entry

Our centres use external CCTV to monitor the entire building. Each centre has secure front-door entry, so only authorised adults can access the premises.

Buddy system and supervision

Staff work in teams and are never left alone with a child; we use family grouping when necessary. Everyone who enters our premises are vetted carefully.

Staff Training

Staff are trained in Child Safety, Mandatory reporting and how to recognise a child at risk of harm or neglect, ensuring all children feel safe, seen, and supported.

Training and Professional Standards

Safety begins with having the right people in place. At Tribe, every educator:

• Holds a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).
• Is trained as a mandatory reporter, able to recognise and act on any concerns for a child’s wellbeing.
• Completes mandatory child protection training, refreshed regularly to meet current standards.
• We do not use agency staff at our centres

These professional requirements are non-negotiable and form the foundation of our childcare safety commitments.

Training, Mentorship, and Professional Growth

Beyond meeting the basics, Tribe invests in our educators so they can provide the safest and most supportive environments for children.

Mentoring new staff

Every new team member is paired with a buddy educator during probation, ensuring they are never left alone and always supported until their competency is established.

Ongoing mentorship

Leaders and experienced educators provide regular guidance to build skills, strengthen practice, and support reflective teaching.

Circle of Security training

Our teams are equipped with strategies that build secure attachments, giving children the confidence to explore and learn safely.

Continuous professional development

From refresher courses in child protection to emerging research in early childhood education, Tribe ensures our teams grow in knowledge and practice.
“By investing in our people, we create a culture where child safety is second nature.”

Partnering with Families

Child safety works best when families and educators work together.

Families are invited to attend sessions focused on child safety – covering topics like consent, protective behaviours, and open communication. It’s also a chance to meet Fiona, our Approved Provider, and raise any concerns directly.
We share guidance with parents to help continue conversations at home. From how to talk about consent to language you can use with your child, Tribe is here to support families every step of the way.
We encourage families to build close connections with their child’s room leader and centre manager. With our open-door policy, parents are always welcome to ask questions, share concerns, or simply check in, because safety is built on trust and ongoing communication.

Helping Children Build Confidence and Safety Skills

At Tribe, children learn about safety in ways that are empowering and age-appropriate.

Consent and Protective Behaviours

Children are introduced to age-appropriate lessons through stories, songs, and conversations. They learn that their body belongs to them and that it’s okay to say “no.”

Correct
Terminology

Educators use correct anatomical terms, and we encourage children to do the same. This helps children clearly communicate if something makes them uncomfortable.

Encouragement to Speak Up

We teach children that they can always talk to trusted adults and that their voices will be heard. Brave conversations are celebrated, not silenced.

Working Together for a Safe Future

Childcare safety is at the heart of everything we do. By combining clear policies, professional training, safe environments, and open partnerships with families, Tribe ensures every child is given the security they need to thrive.

When you entrust your child to Tribe Early Learning, you’re joining a community that values transparency, trust, and the proactive safety of all children.
