Childcare Ridgewood
More Than a Childcare Centre, A Part of Ridgewood
At Tribe Ridgewood, we believe children grow best when they feel connected, not just to their educators, but to the world around them. That’s why our centre is woven into the fabric of everyday Ridgewood life. Children visit the lovely residents at the nearby RAAFA retirement village in Merriwa, write cards, share songs and strike up the kind of quiet friendships that don’t happen by accident. They explore local parks, meet neighbours and learn what it means to be part of a community.
You’ll also find a small shelf inside the front door with tins, pasta and a few everyday essentials – take what you need, leave what you can. It’s a quiet way our families look after each other, because a community only works when everyone does a little bit for everyone else.
We care for children from 6 weeks to 5 years across our baby, toddler and kindergarten rooms, with an inquiry-based approach that shapes each day around what children are genuinely curious about.

Inquiry-Based Learning at Tribe Ridgewood
At Tribe Ridgewood, learning is guided by children’s ideas, questions and interests through our inquiry-based approach. Educators observe closely, listen carefully, and use everyday moments to shape learning experiences that feel real and relevant, rather than following a fixed program.
That might look like a small group puzzling over why the pond at the park looks different after rain, a kindy child bringing in a feather they found on the way to the centre and sparking a week of research into local birds, or a toddler who’s suddenly fascinated by shadows on the floor. Educators follow the thread with questions, materials and time, and the children’s thinking goes somewhere neither we nor they expected.
Our Team at Tribe Ridgewood
Our team at Tribe Ridgewood is made up of warm, passionate educators who care deeply about the children they look after. Some are mothers themselves, with their own children attending the centre, which says a lot about how they feel about the centre.
Meet Our Centre Manager, Talia
Hi, I’m Talia, the Centre Manager at Tribe Early Learning Ridgewood. I’ve spent over eight years in early education, and that time has given me a real appreciation for how much the small moments matter: in the rooms, in relationships with educators, and in the trust we build with families.
As a parent, I know how much it means to feel completely comfortable with the place your child spends their days. That’s what I work towards here at Ridgewood every day.
I’m particularly passionate about our community work. When children feel they belong to something bigger than the centre itself, they grow in confidence, build real social skills, and learn what it means to contribute.
My door is always open. I’d love to meet you and show you around.

Childcare in Ridgewood and the Surrounding Northern Suburbs
Tribe Ridgewood is on Feakle Bend, a quiet residential street in the heart of the suburb, with easy access to Hester Avenue and the Mitchell Freeway for families commuting to Joondalup or the city. We’re minutes from Merriwa Plaza, Ocean Keys Shopping Centre in Clarkson, and some of Perth’s best uncrowded northern beaches.
We welcome families from Ridgewood, Merriwa, Nowergup, Neerabup and Clarkson. Many of our kindy graduates move on to Merriwa Primary. We work hard to make that transition feel like a natural next step rather than a big, scary leap.
We’re open 6:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Questions Families Ask About Childcare in Ridgewood
What does your community involvement actually look like in a typical week?
It’s woven through everything. Children might visit the nearby RAAFA retirement village in Merriwa to share songs with the residents, head out on a walking excursion to Ridgewood Park, or welcome a local visitor into the centre for a morning. These aren’t one-off events. They happen regularly, and they shape how our children see themselves in the world.
My older child already goes to Merriwa Primary. Can Tribe work with their school run?
Yes. Many of our Ridgewood families are juggling primary school drop-offs nearby, so our early opening and later closing are designed with that in mind.
How far in advance should I enrol to secure a place?
It depends on the age group and the days you need. Some of our rooms have availability for immediate starts, while others book out further ahead. The best thing to do is call us with your preferred days.. Many families join the waitlist while deciding, which keeps options open.
Do you take children outside the centre often, and how do you keep them safe?
Yes, local excursions and walks are a regular part of life at Ridgewood. All outings are fully risk-assessed, ratios are higher than standard when we’re off-site, and children wear high-visibility vests. Parents are notified in advance and give written permission for every excursion.
What happens if I need emergency care or an extra day at short notice?
We’ll always do our best to help. Ridgewood is a smaller, close-knit centre where Talia knows every family personally, so when something comes up, a quick call or message often sorts it. Availability isn’t guaranteed, but we try.
